It's almost time!!! EEK!!!
Bill and I LOVE this race weekend for many reasons. First, we have run this race every year for the past 6 years. In the past four years, though, this weekend marks the end of the craziest month of the year for both of us. He travels a ton and I put in long hours at work. It's like our little treat of making it through another August!
This year seems especially packed full of fun and special events. Here's what we have planned:
Blogger meet-up on Friday at Napa Rose
Staying at the Disneyland Hotel, which only means one thing: TRADER SAM'S (yes, they have yummy non-alcoholic drinks for the mamas-to-be too)
Dinner at Storytellers Cafe with the whole family
A very special dinner and our GENDER REVEAL at Carthay Circle
Mom is going to the anniversary party
We are definitely carving out time for fireworks, World of Color, and the parade
All that's left to do is finish costumes and pack. I'm SO ready!!!! What special plans do you have for this race weekend?

Running Tips from Cigna
The Disneyland Half Marathon weekend is right around the corner, and the whole family is getting ready for a SUPER busy weekend, not only filled with LOTS of running, but also a ton of fun events. My mom will be joined some runDisney runners at the anniversary party on Thursday night, and I was lucky enough to be invited to a blogger meetup at Napa Rose on Friday, hosted by Cigna! How fun does THAT sound??? (Thanks Cigna!)
In preparation, Cigna has prepared their top 10 training tips for runners--what do you think? Which one is your favorite? Mine? #10--be your own cheerleader!

Costume Construction: An Introduction
Running at Disney and running in costume are almost synonymous! I've worn some sort of costume for pretty much every Disney race, so I thought it would be fun to share some tips! Enter a new series on Disney Runs in the Family: Costume Construction!
Disclaimer--I am NOT a seamstress in any way! I don't even own a sewing machine. All of my costumes are more crafty and I really try to keep it simple and cheap. I stress cheap because you are going to be running and sweating in these costumes! Often, at least a few pieces get thrown away right after the race. Sometimes, I've even thrown pieces away on the course if they start to bother me.
Now, on the other hand, my mom DOES sew, so I've begged (more than) a few times for race costumes (often at the last minute), and she comes through with some great costumes! She'll be contributing as well, so I guess you can decide which ones fit your ability (hmmmm...should I have asked her first? I'm sure she'll share, right?). Oh, and of course Chris and Katie have done some super cute couples costumes. (This counts as asking them too, right?)
Stay tuned! I'll be digging through the closet for my favorites. Hope it inspires you to go all out for your next Disney (or non-Disney) race!
